DSHS

What it is:

The Child Care Subsidy Programs help families to pay for child care through either:

  1. Working Connections Child Care, or
  2. Seasonal Child Care.

Who is eligible:

  • Households with parents who are working or are participating in a DSHS approved work activity and whose children meet citizenship requirements.
  • The Working Connections Child Care program established a waiting list beginning March 1, 2011. Wait listed families will be notified by mail when a slot is available. If you are on TANF, have a special needs child, are curing a TANF sanction or are a teen parent (not living with your parent or guardian, attending full time school and using the licensed child care center at your school) you will not be placed on the waiting list.
  • The Seasonal Child Care program pays for child care subsidies to eligible seasonally employed agricultural families who live in designated counties and are not receiving TANF benefits.

For Working Connections Child Care, DSHS can help pay for:

  • Licensed or certified child care centers
  • Licensed or certified family child care homes
  • Relatives who provide care in their own homes
  • Adults who come to your home to provide care

For Seasonal Child Care, DSHS can help pay for:

  • Licensed or certified child care centers
  • Licensed or certified family child care homes
